Mark Ellickson, Ph.D.
Dr. Ellickson is President and Co-Founder of Opinion Research Specialists. He is a social scientist trained in statistics and survey research methodology and has more than 31 years of applied experience working with local governments. Dr. Ellickson is responsible for questionnaire design, sampling, statistical analysis, and report writing on all quantitative research projects. Dr. Ellickson holds a Ph.D. in Political Science specializing in survey methodology and statistics from Southern Illinois University–Carbondale where he was a Morris Doctoral Fellow from 1984-1986. He has taught graduate-level courses in survey research and statistics for the MPA Program at Missouri State University, conducted statewide workshops on designing and implementing community surveys for state and local leaders, and worked as a statistical consultant for the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
His research on conducting community and employee surveys has been published in national journals such as State and Local Government Review, Public Personal Management, American Review of Politics, Journal of Political Science, Legislative Studies Quarterly, as well as several articles in the Missouri Municipal Review.
Kathryn Ellickson, MBA
Kathryn Ellickson is CEO and Co-Founder of Opinion Research Specialists. Kathryn oversees a staff of 10 employees and handles all recruitment and training. In addition to programming our online surveys, Kathryn assists with questionnaire design, data analysis, and report writing. Prior to co-founding ORS in 1991, she served as an adjunct faculty member in the Marketing Department at Southern Illinois University–Carbondale and was a staff analyst for Southern Illinois University’s Institutional Research and Studies Center. Kathryn holds an MBA in Marketing with an emphasis in research from Southern Illinois University–Carbondale.
Terry Stone, Ph.D.
Dr. Terry Stone is a senior research associate with Opinion Research Specialists. Dr. Stone specializes in research design, data analysis, and program evaluation. Prior to joining ORS, she served as a program evaluator for the Munroe-Meyer Institute at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and currently serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Nebraska–Omaha. Dr. Stone holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Nebraska–Omaha.
Marc Maness, M.A.
Marc Maness is a senior research associate with Opinion Research Specialists. Prior to joining ORS, Marc worked in the education field for more than 30 years, including 18 years as the Director of Communications and Strategic Planning for Springfield Public Schools, the largest school district in the State of Missouri. Marc's focus is on qualitative data collection for inclusion in strategic plan development where he specializes in a human-centered design input process. Marc holds a Master’s degree in Communications from Missouri State University.
Josie Bock, M.A.
Josie Bock is an associate with Opinion Research Specialists and assists with GIS mapping and graphics production. Josie is a certified GIS Professional (GISP) and Director of GIS Services for ClearBasin Software. Josie has more than 25 years of experience working on various mapping and survey projects and specializes in GIS data development, manipulation, and display. Josie holds a Master’s degree in Geography from the University of Oklahoma.
